Rome Ababat

Flute Instructor


Rome Ababat is a classical flutist and private teacher based in North Texas. He earned hisBachelor of Music in Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, where he studied with Dr. John Barcellona, and is currently in his second year of the Master of Music program in Flute Performance at the University of North Texas under the guidance of Terri Sundberg. Rome has received top honors in several instrumental solo competitions, including the Golden Classical Music Awards Competition and the Musical Arts Competition of Orange County, and has performed at both Carnegie Hall and Weill Recital Hall. His musical training has been further enriched through masterclasses with distinguished flutists such as Carol Wincenc, Jim Walker, and Gareth Davies. His previous teachers include Sara Andon and Diana Morgan. Since 2022, Rome has maintained an active private teaching studio, focusing on strong fundamentals and musical independence to help students develop their own artistic voice. With a critical ear and a student-centered approach, he is deeply committed to fostering growth, confidence, and musical curiosity in each of his

students.
