Iris Fang is currently pursuing her Doctor of
Musical Arts degree at the University of North
Texas College of Music under Professor Horacio
Contreras. She is a stipend-supported member
of the Moore Trio and She has received
coaching in masterclasses from Professor Louise
Lansdown of the Royal Northern College of
Music, Prof. Anne Epperson of Indiana
University Bloomington and renowned violinist
Paul Huang.
Master of Music in Cello Performance
Iris Fang earned her Master’s degree from the School of Music at the University of
Arizona, studying with Professor Theodore Buchholz. She participated in a series of
masterclasses with celebrated cellists including Amit Peled, Edward Arron, John-Henry
Crawford, Anthony Arnone, and Larry Stomberg.
Bachelor of Music (Direct Admission without Entrance Exam)
She completed her undergraduate studies at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing,
where she was admitted with full exemption from the national entrance exam due to her
outstanding performance.
Secondary School Program
Prior to her undergraduate studies, she attended the Middle School of the Central
Conservatory of Music.
Performance Experience & Achievements
Iris Fang began her formal music training at the age of six.By the age of eight, she had already performed on national television, including CCTV-3
and the CCTV Children’s Channel.
In 2014, she held her first solo recital in Beijing, which received high praise.
Throughout her undergraduate years at the Central Conservatory of Music, she remained
actively engaged in solo and ensemble performances, steadily building her stage presence
and musical maturity.
In 2021, she began her graduate studies in the United States, and continued to expand her
performance experience internationally.
In 2022, she held her Master Recital at University of Arizona.
In 2023, she was invited to participate in a contemporary music festival in collaboration
with New York University, where she performed innovative works combining cello
performance and modern dance.
She received Second Place in the String Concerto Competition at UA and First Prize in the
College Division of the 2023 Cello Congress.
She has been actively involved in chamber music groups and has received artistic coaching
from members of the Kronos Quartet.
