Younggi Hong

Born in South Korea in 1995, Younggi Hong started playing the piano at the age of eight. He was accepted to Incheon Arts High School and later earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Hansei University with a prestigious performance scholarship and outstanding academic achievement.

As the winner of the 2022 Hansei Concerto Competition, Hong performed the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Hansei Symphony Orchestra and the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 19 with the Hansei String Orchestra.

Hong has received numerous awards in national and international competitions, including the Music Chunchoo Competition, Music Education News Competition, YoungChang Piano Competition, Teenager Piano Competition, Eumyeon Music Competition, Music Journal National Competition, Sejong University Competition, New York International Music Competition, and many others.

He has participated in numerous music festivals and masterclasses with distinguished artists including Jenő Jandó, Attila Némethy, Deborah Moriarty, Tom Hicks, Ian Hobson, Boaz Sharon, Victor Rosenbaum, Young Ho Kim, and Jung Won Kim.

As both a soloist and collaborative pianist, Hong has performed at Youngsan Art Hall, Mozart Hall, the Concert Hall at Hansei University, Cole Concert Hall and Recital Hall at Stephen F. Austin State University, and Béla Bartók Hall in Hungary. He also served as a Teaching Fellow at the Stephen F. Austin State University Summer Piano Camp.

Hong earned the Performing Arts Certificate at Stephen F. Austin State University on scholarship, where he studied with Dr. Minhae Lee. He completed his Master of Music degree at the University of North Texas while serving as a Teaching Assistant under Dr. Steven Harlos, he will continue his studies at the University of North Texas while serving as a Choir Ensemble Teaching Assistant , studying with Dr. Pamela Mia Paul.
